Wedding Season : Guest of the Wedding Dresses

Posted in Fashionista

It is almost that time again: Wedding Season.  Starting in a few months your calenders will be booked every weekend.  Last year I had 12 weddings-talk about a busy few months and a crunch on your wallet. Whether you are the Bride or a guest of the wedding, your dress is the most important element. Going to countless weddings, I had to buy a new dress for each wedding (lets face it, being photographed in the same dress is lame).  So, I had to devise a fashion plan for wedding season.

Prior to the first wedding, I kept an eye out for any sales at my local vendors. I didn’t care how cheap the dress was- If I found it at Goodwill and it was cute-I would buy it! I would go around to my friends houses and go through their dress selection.

Everyone knows the dress code if you are NOT the bride : the main one, DON’T WEAR A WHITE DRESS~ Only the bride wears that color!

Black is the main color you will see. But for the Spring and Summer weddings, be different: wear Pink, Orange, Gray, Navy, Red, Purple or Yellow

Piazza Sempione Stretch Linen Blend Dress Donna Morgan Blouson Jersey Shift Dress Muse Belted Stretch Cotton Dress

All these dresses are from my go-to dress shop Nordstrom

Try to decide the vibe of the wedding and base your outfit around that. If it is an outdoor wedding-don’t wear a silk dress wear a fun sundress.  If the wedding is more formal, then pick a satin or Taffeta dress.

It can be tough during wedding season: but keep an eye out for sales, raid your friends closet or just add different jewelry to the dress.  Just think how the bride feels finding a dress—because their dress is the center of the wedding.  Your job is to eat, drink and be merry (and look cute while doing it).

Nail It! Nail Colors for All!

Posted in Fashionista

One of the latest trends has been nail polish. In fact, now there are tons of patterns and shades that one can buy. One place that has all the latest and greatest colors is Beauty Brands. They have a whole section that is devoted to nail polish and everything that you need to do a home mani-pedi.

I know that changing your polish can be a pain and a challenge. But I find that it adds that added detail to an outfit. I like to have a few go-to colors for the spring, summer, fall and winter. For the Spring I would go with a pale pink - Summer a Hot Pink or a Neon Color - For Fall and Winter I would pick a Navy or Black .

A Manicure should last about a week, but there are advancements in polish. Now you can have a manicure last 3 weeks. It will cost just a tad more, but in my book, it is well worth it! If you HATE polish, then you should try press on nails that already have polish applied to them or now they have peel and apply which has NO dry time. (the peel and applies have fun patterns and colors, and are REALLY easy to apply!)

Whenever you have a fresh coat of polish on, you will feel 100% put together.

Jewels Complete an Outfit

Posted in Fashionista

Jewelry. An added sparkle that completes the outfit. The best thing you can have is a collection of pieces that can be paired up with any outfit. Whether that is a rope bracelet for those beach days or a crystal necklace for a night out on the town. Either way, that added accessory pulls the entire outfit together. I find if I am having a slumpy day but I still have to look good, I usually add chunky pearls-and poof-I automatically look like I spent hours putting together a cohesive look. I suggest costume jewelry because it has high-perceived-value. I find that Forever 21 has some of the best priced jewelry and a wide selection. If you are looking for classic pieces that will last a little longer I suggest J. Crew.

The Key Items that you should have in your collection:

People always think that you should not mix gold and silver. Well, guess what, you can now. All those rules are out of the window. What I like to do is have find pieces that have gold and silver mixed so that way you can wear anything.

When it comes to Jewelry: Just Have Fun

Fashion on a Budget

Posted in Fashionista

ashion these days can cost into the thousands. It is hard to look through a Magazine and see the cute outfits from Chanel, Louis Vuitton and YSL. You know that you can’t afford anything on the page, except maybe the socks…then you find that those are $450 cashmere socks. Just great. I find it fun to take the looks that you love from the magazines and try and recreate them for less. Print off the picture that you want to recreate and hit the shops. Go to places like Walmart, Target, K-Mart, TJMaxx and other discounted stores to find look-a-like pieces. My favorite blog when it comes to this idea is http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/. Here are some examples of what she does:

This is a great way to save money and still look great. I know it’s hard to look put together with little funds, but with a little time and effort you can pull of any designer look!

Shoes : A Way of Life

Posted in Fashionista

For most women, shoes are where it is at. You can tell a lot about someone depending on the shoes they wear. Think for a moment, when you are feeling sassy and flirty, are you going to wear beat up Converse? Probably not. You will probably be sporting a sleek high heel, full of attitude and confidence.  If you have the Converse on, you are probably just hanging out and goofing around. Shoes determine the type of day that you will have. I think that is why women have so many shoes: you never know the mood you will be in. In my belief, you can never have too many!

My boyfriend always asks me, “why do you need 13 pairs of black heels?” All boys see is the shade black. Little do they know, there are chunky heels, strappy, backless, peep-toe, pointy-toe, casual, dressy, boots, flats and many other types of “black” shoes. They all convey a certain look for that perfect outfit. I think it is funny that almost all women can relate to shoes. Usually a women will compliment another women on her shoes to get into their good graces. That is how all women usually make friends!

Winter Fashion Tips

Posted in Fashionista

Looking Cute in the Winter can be tough! You no longer have that great tan and cute floral print dresses to boost your attitude. Instead, you have pale skin and frumpy sweaters. I find that you can still look cute by layering anything in your closet. The main thing I wear in the winter are scarves. You can dress them up or you can go casual. People always ask me where I get my scarves-well, everywhere from K-Mart to Coach. I usually wear all black and pair it with a vibrant scarf full of pattern and color. With that look you will be ready for a day at work or a night out on the town. Some of my favorite looks include:

This is great look to lounge around the house in. It’s cute and cozy!

Leopard prints are great to spice up an outfit!

Here are some great ways to wear a scarf!! It is so easy, anyone can do it!

Fashion is Whatever Makes You Happy

Posted in Fashionista

In the words of Heidi Klum, “In fashion, one day you’re in, and the next you’re out.”  I remember when I was in Middle School Dr. Martins were all the rage. The more pairs you had, the more popular you were. Now, I wouldn’t be caught dead in them. In today’s fashion world, colors and patterns have become bolder, it is now OK to wear white after labor day, the past is making a come back and women are wearing men’s fashion. I find it hard to keep up with what is “in” because fashion trends are always changing. With all the people I know, it seems like the trend is wear what you want, anything goes. I find myself being my own person and wearing what I like, with a hint of what’s “in”. For example, I will pair my skinny jeans with my boyfriends baggy sweater- add heals and pearls and you have the perfect mix of shabby chic. I found some great websites that have information about the latest trends

The best fashion advice that I have ever been given was dress for yourself, if you want to wear a fancy dress or sweat pants, do it, who cares what others think.

Hi everyone! Hope your day is going well. Thank you so much for the sweet comments and wishes regarding our baby news. I was overwhelmed with emotions reading all your comments here, on instagram, twitter and on facebook. I truly feel I have a family in this blog world. Your love keeps me going even when I feel extremely tired and thanks a lot for your continued support. I am also looking forward to see how my style will evolve and I am more than ready to get through this winter and store all my winter clothes..LOL! Thank goodness, the weather has been like spring for the past couple of days…interesting!

In this post, I am wearing a flared bottom peplum top. I really like the flared bottom and I styled this outfit with a focus on the pants which is a mix of red, navy and other stripes. The navy color of the peplum top gives it a warm and subtle feeling. In line with the same tone, I completed the outfit with black pumps and a black bag.

I have pondered on so many ways on how to share this news…our news and joy. No words can quantify our excitement. Months, weeks and days have gone by, making it tougher to keep this happy secret. Yes, I have seen several speculating comments here and on my instagram (@jadorefashion) and twitter accounts :) . Now, I am finally confirming your speculations – this summer, a little bundle of joy will be joining our family. My husband and I are beyond excited and cannot wait. It is definitely a wonderful experience and we are forever grateful to God. This is the best gift we could ask for in 2013.

I am in tears as I share this amazing news with you guys…Thank you so much for your tremendous support.

I’m Still Here

Posted in Bleed For Fashion
As I write this blog post, I’m fighting a terrible fever, cough and stuffy nose. This means you’ll have to wait until next week for an outfit post, hopefully when I’m no longer an incubus of viral plague.

In the meantime, I wanted to share 10 Good Reminders for Stressful Times. This is exactly what I needed to read right now.

1. Happiness is never constant, and it’s not supposed to be. You have to fight through some bad days to earn the best days of your life. To believe that you can reach a state of happiness and stay there forever, is like the tide believing she can reach for the shoreline and remain there forever; or like a fruit tree believing that if she only holds on tighter, she can keep her fruit from dropping to the ground. Happiness is simply a series of moments that come and go and add sweetness to our lives. Learn to accept this, and the more happy moments you will have.

2. Failures are temporary situations that teach us necessary lessons. Life’s best lessons are usually learned at the worst times and from the worst mistakes. So yes, you will fail sometimes. The faster you accept this, the faster you can get on with being brilliant. You’ll never be 100% sure it will work, but you can always be 100% sure doing nothing won’t work. Doing something and getting it wrong is at least ten times more productive than doing nothing. So get out there and try! Either you succeed or you learn a vital lesson. Win – Win.

3. Even if you can’t see it now, you are making progress. You may not be where you want to be yet, but if you think about it, you’re no longer where you once were either. You have good reason to believe that you can trust yourself going forward. Not because you’ve always made the right choices, but because you survived the bad ones, and taken small steps in the right direction. So cry for a moment if you have to, and get it out of your system. Crying doesn’t indicate that you’re weak; since birth, it has always been a sign that you’re alive and full of potential. Once you’re done, keep going! You’re undoubtedly getting closer to where you want to be.

4. How you feel when you’re stressed is not a true measure of reality. Just because you’re afraid, doesn’t mean you’re in danger. Just because you feel alone, doesn’t mean nobody loves you. Just because you think you might fail, doesn’t mean you will. Look beyond your doubts and keep searching for the truth. Be aware of your mental self-talk. We all talk silently to ourselves in our heads, but we aren’t always conscious of what we’re saying or how it’s affecting us. The way to overcome negative thoughts and destructive emotions is to develop opposing, positive emotions that are stronger and more powerful. Listen to your self-talk and replace negative thoughts with positive ones. The sun is always shining on some part of your life. Sometimes you just have to forget how you feel, remember what you deserve and keep pushing forward.

5. You cannot change what you refuse to confront. You can learn great things from your failures and mistakes when you aren’t busy denying them. If you’ve been asking the same questions for months or even years, yet are still stuck, it’s probably not that you haven’t been given the answers, but that you don’t like the answers you were given. It takes a lot of courage to admit that something needs to change, and a lot more courage still, to accept the responsibility for actually changing it. The most important step forward is taking the first step. The simple act of getting started and doing something will give you the momentum you need, and soon you’ll find yourself in a positive spiral of positive changes, one building on the other.

6. You are not what happened to you in the past. No matter how chaotic the past has been, the future is a clean, fresh, wide open slate. You are not your past habits. You are not your past failures. You are not how others have at one time treated you. You are only who you think you are right now in this moment. You are only what you do right now in this moment.

7. Not getting what you want can be a blessing. Not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of good luck, because it forces you reevaluate things, opening new doors to opportunities and information you would have otherwise overlooked. Remember, some things in life fall apart so that better things can fall together.

8. Being a ‘work in progress’ is a great state to be in. Stop berating yourself for being a work in progress. Start embracing it! Because being a work in progress doesn’t mean you’re not good enough today; it means you want a better tomorrow, and you wish to love yourself completely, so you can live your life fully. It means you’re determined to heal your heart, expand your mind and cultivate the gifts you know you’re meant to share. May we all be works in progress forever, and celebrate the fact that we are!

9. Nobody else can do it for you. Keep doing what you know in your heart is right for YOU. Let your dreams be bigger than your fears and your actions louder than your words. Live by choice, not by chance. Make changes, not excuses. Be motivated, not manipulated. Work to excel, not compete. Choose to listen to your inner voice, not the jumbled opinions of everyone else. It’s your road, and yours alone. Others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you.

10. Life is not easy, but it’s worth it. If you expect it to be, you will perpetually disappoint yourself. Achieving anything worthwhile in life takes effort. So start every morning ready to run farther than you did yesterday and fight harder than you ever have before. Above all, make sure you properly align your efforts with your goals. It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it in the end.

XOXO,
